Wait what is the Firebase feature he is talking about?

In Android studio, there's a Firebase entry under 'Tools'. Click on it, and you'll get a Firebase assistant pop in from the side. This automagically handles creating a Firebase project in the console for you, and updating your app with the right dependencies. It's pretty cool! 🙂

Google should really develop courses and resources for Kotlin language. There is very little development in Kotlin learning resources.

That's a great point. I'm making the switch for a lot of my upcoming Firebase content. Hopefully that'll help 🙂

Yeah, kotlin is great but… When will be Android documentation available in kotlin?

nicolò lino Android as of API 26 is still in Java, so it's Javadoc. This is not a real problem if you make your app in Kotlin though.

As Lawrence said, the official docs are made for this. It took me less than 2 days to read it all and practicing on a sample project, then I used it in my app. That was a year ago, don't regret.

That's actually the biggest problem right now. There are not many resources right now. But there are some seriously good and deep courses on udemy which you can definitely check out. I've already bought one and it's really good.

Shivam Taneja To build great Android apps, Kotlin is probably the best option available. After 3 years of Android Development and counting, I'm highly convinced so at least

You would rather open your mind, and try things like that are well worth it. Takes about 1 week for a java developer to be proficient in Kotlin, or less

Seriously, I'm very eager for AS 3.0. I'm hoping this new AS should come with more themes…

Google clearly wants developers to swtich or use kotlin instead of Java for good reasons. While they are trying to be supportive of other languages, and they don't want to say upfront to use kotlin intead. So idk Google maybe just say it. Also, developers just use kotlin if you can.

I see it more as providing an option, in much the same way Xcode provided Swift as an option, so that it wasn't just Objective-C 🙂
