Although I love iTerm 2, Hyper has become my new go-to and I highly recommend anyone reading this to check out the project. Customizable, lots of great plugins, and can be used on any environment (Windows, MacOS, and Linux). It is a new project, however, and there are some performance issues and bugs; the development team has been responsive to those issues, but it may be better suited for someone that is willing to put up with a few bugs in order to move the app forward.

A perfectly valid point. Considering I've already opened a few issues on the official repo and am personally working through fixing a problem with one of its major plugins via pull request, I would definitely caution the recommendation for anyone that isn't willing to dig in a bit if things don't go as planned. I've edited my original post so newer developers don't end up getting into hot water while using the app.

I'm not totally convinced on Hyper just yet. The plugin ecosystem looks great, but I'm not sure about adding 1 more Electron app that will be running frequently.
