Would it be easier if give the following css codes to the coffee icon:.big-icon i{ border:2px solid white; border-radius:100%; padding:5px; font-size:30px;}so the i element doesn't need the ".big-icon" div and style it self?

I tried something similar to that first… the icon with "fa" class inherits the size from it's parent. So adding the class directly to the icon will cause a conflict and the icon will not change in size. So basically you need to add more CSS weight or something. Plus then some styling might need to change for both the background and the padding. I mean.. if you find a better way, go ahead. But I thought having a parent worked best.

Hi Quentin, nice tutorial again. When I tried to change the font size, it wouldn't work. It works with color. By the way I linked to an external css not inline like you did in the tutorial. I opened it in different browsers to make sure the problem wasn't with Chrome, but it persisted. What do you think could be the problem?

That was exactly what happened. I jumped ahead of myself, I didn't get to the point where you actually linked it to an external file. Thank you very much for the detail explanation.

DEBUG TIP: Add some inline styling and see if it changes. If it does, then it's a CSS weight problem.It sounds like you might have placed the class directly on the "i" tag, and not on the parent like I did. e.g. <i class="fa fa-icon your-class"></i>when you do things this way, I think the "fa" class inherits the size of the parent. Making using a parent div (like I did) a little easier. You can also try to add more weight to your CSS class.e.g. .fa.your-class {font-size:80px}

Filming in a little corner in my friend's house. I record my computer screen with QuickTime (it's free on mac)I record myself with a cannon 700D (I think it's also called a T3i in some countries)Then I edit everything in Adobe Premier pro in post. I'm still learning my way around Premier pro… I never studied film/editing or anything. So I just play around and see what works. 🙂

Well I have literally been preparing tutorials for 1 week now on a front end framework very similar to materialize, but perhaps I can do materialize next? 😀
