If the world I live in is a simulation, I have no reason to believe other people exist in it all. The way Elon puts it, extremely powerful simulations like our "reality" will be possible in personal computers and because of that, everyone else could be a simulation, this simulation is not necessarily "multiplayer". If "anyone" likes my comment or responds to it, they could be just the AI of my particular world/game. Or if you read my comment and you really exist and I don't, I'm AI!!

we're all just bots chatting with each other.

Your ideas, your identity, yourself and your entire existence are the product of one of these simulations. Within our "reality", it has been billions of years but outside this simulation there is a kid, whose dad just bought him one of these advanced computers and is running the stock, demo simulation of "Earthly Humans" on 1000x speed. He is about to get bored and reboot.

That would be even more awesome. Not even the simulation knows it's a simulation!

or maybe you're an AI too but you're not aware of this fact.

I love how his opinions are solely based on fact and reason, unlike everything we see in this current presidential campaign.

The guy on the microphone is so unhappy with his existence that he wants to blame a " Sufficiently Advanced Civilization" for his deluded existence and their coding errors for not spawning him as Brad Pitt…

Ever thought about religious /spiritual scriptures or experiences pointing out "life" after death? Implying "life" after death, would practically mean this existence is a "simulation" and existence of a consciousness after death would be the "real one" outside the simulation. But of course, it's alot easier for people to believe we live in a computer we can never understand, than to believe in a dimension we can never understand. Same thing, but for some it's totally different, which it isn't.

If a game is a simulation, that means there is a reality outside it. It's like saying there is a game but no computer.

+IWRITEINALLCAPS How'd you get to a simulation practically mean there's existence after ?

And yet the one that is using mainly DATA and evidences draws the hypothesis that this life is a simulation. Which practically means there is a existence after this "simulation" if it was true. So how come you believe in one but refuse to consider that the other one is possible. To me it sounds like being selective when people believe in this theory. I just say that it means the same thing.

One uses evidence, data, and hypothesis … The other uses myth

The scary stuff is if humanity never manages to find any life beyond our Earth no matter the technologicaladvancement we might make,This could serve as one of the strongest proofs that we are indeed in a simulation with only us on this Earth programmed to possibly exist in it for whatever maybe unknown reason for us to understand.

yes i agree they are always looking for life in places simliar to earth assuming other advanced species would also use same technology such as radio.

Or in ways we are not able to perceive/consider.

Haven't found any life forms as we know it, ie carbon based. Doesn't mean life doesn't exist in places we would think impossible.

It's presented in a funny way, but it's a serious concept that has facts behind it. Yes, in fact, the most likely scenario is that we are living a simulation. Not a game, per se, but a simulation of a universe with similar laws of interactions, maybe even similar societies, and we are a part of many simulations run over and over to discover possibilities that would take thousands of years to discover in the universe these simulations are created. We will also be running simulations in incredible fast motion to teach our AI (and ourselves) new ways to for instance… Read more »

what if we are in a simulation and in our future we create a simulation within the simulation…

If we are in a computer simulation then the creators of us could also be in a computer simulation and the creators of those creators could be in a computer simulation. It seems like a never ending chain of computer simulations lol

computer is relative we might even advance beyond that.

So if that's the case they're no real logical reason to suspect we're not the base reality.

Andrew Capps

+Matt Mackay that would just mean that they were the base reality. They are the real people.

Well it's a broken concept because at the end of the chain, someone has to be the original creators… but then how did they come to be? I suspect we're not in a computer simulation to be honest.

Maybe that's what we call multiverse ^_^
