The first-ever Unreal Engine SIGGRAPH User Group held at LA’s Orpheum Theater on July 31, 2017 was a jam-packed, 100-minute showcase, featuring 20 presenters across multiple industries. In addition to announcing the Datasmith beta, our workflow toolkit for architectural and design visualization, we covered real-time production (‘The Human Race’, ‘Fortnite: A Hard Day’s Nite’, ‘Zafari’), digital humans (‘Meet Mike’), autonomous driving (Zoox), large datasets (HOK, CityEngine), and new Unreal integrations (Twinmotion, V-Ray). We’d like to thank the guest presenters and contributors who made it such a success: aXYZ Anima, Chaos Group V-Ray, Digital Dimension, Esri CityEngine, Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, HOK, Lissoni Associati, Mike Seymour, Twinmotion, Zoox. Then it beats the purpose of Datasmith workflow for most users. I can make a complete scene in twinmotion in a matter of few hours while getting the same thing in max would take days and in the end both models are gonna be powered by UE so the quality is gonna be the same. We shall see how both of those will compare qualitatively. Anyway those are great news.

I mean the garbage collection C# provides is great and all but if you consider the development to multi platform Unity still has to compile the C# code and transfer it to C++ binaries. So from a compile time over head doesn’t make sense to me.

C++ is not that bad Unreal Takes care of all of the memory management so it basically becomes a slightly more complex c# from my prospective
