Happy 2017! We’re welcoming back the Unreal Engine livestreams with a special feature with Matt Kuhlenschmidt. Love these changes for going in a more anti-skeumorphic direction with the UI while still having a lot of options other than flat white etc.

Would the blur component allow a brush that could be used as a mask to only blur within the shape of the image set in that brush (i.e a circle, triangle, instead of a square)? If not would that be possible via wrapping it in a retainer box with a material that would drive the masking?

+Dan Heit The Retainer Box solution should work, since with that, you can specify which parts should be visible and which shouldn't, and if you create a circle texture for use as a mask, it should work!

I'm having a pretty serious problem with the UE 4.14.2 installation .So i installed the epic game launcher, it fully loaded to 100% but when i got to prerequisites it just staid stuck. no progress. i took a look in the epic game's files and searched for the prerequisites and i might be wrong, but i saw microsoft.net 4 framework in a folder. i admit that I had problems in the past with the program but I managed to fix them (the installation of the framework was stuck on 0%). Oh my, I had an awful lot of trouble with all these Visual Studio components. The problem is that manual uninstall and even regedit didn't solve the problem. The only thing that helped was here, an official standalone uninstaller: github.com/Microsoft/VisualStudioUninstaller/releases . Then I just reinstalled VS and it was okay

Vexinox Ethan In older version of ue's they had conflict between visual studio prerequisities.However newer versions(i dont remember which build solve this)solved this issue.Try to uninstall visual c++2015. If doesnt solve remove all vc++ packages install ue and after that install missing vc++ packages installed before

Twitter and 'Social' as you call it are data-stealing (that's how they earn money). Why would you promote them? Unless you get kickbacks for all the folks that use twitter and facebook tied to you (following).The reduction to quarterly will basically reduce the chances of an individual winning. I've installed UE 4.11.2 and can't find any 'Special effects' in the UMG. Where is Blur effect? Do I need to install it from somewhere? thnx

They say in the video that the Background Blur feature will be in 4.15, which will be out in a few weeks.

Oh, I found a tweet that says that these features are only available in Git version of UE… How long will it take to include them in stable version?
